Course description: The course on “Corruption, National policy and Society” is an interdisciplinary subject, which involves studying the corruption as a social and legal phenomenon as well as its impact on the development of a state.
Purpose: To develop a system of knowledge on the social and legal nature of corruption, legal aspects of combating to corruption, means of preventing and combating corruption as well as on the peculiarities of investigating corrupt practices.
The course is composed of three modules. The first module is devoted to the nature and classification of corruption, economic consequences, peculiarities of corruption in Ukraine and other transition economies, effective anti-corruption strategies of various countries as well as the tools to counter major political, administrative and domestic corruption.
The second module is devoted to legal principles and institutional mechanisms of preventing and combating corruption in Ukraine. The students will learn about the best international practices of countering corruption, as well as the latest changes in the anti-corruption legislation of Ukraine.
The last module is devoted to the study of criminal and criminal procedural aspects of corruption and corruption-related offenses.
The course on “Corruption, National policy and Society” would be interesting for graduate students in the field of political sciences, sociology, and law as well as journalists, civil servants and public figures willing to develop their competence in the field of combating corruption.
