The project was implemented in 2019 and aimed to develop new analytical approaches and practical recommendations regarding the relationship between gender equality and corruption, in particular their impact on political, administrative and everyday corruption.
Given the growing international academic and political interest in the relationship between gender and corruption, the project aimed to investigate whether improving gender equality can help reduce corruption and enhance the effectiveness of anti-corruption strategies.
ACREC served as a communication and coordination platform within the project, bringing together researchers, civil society representatives and young professionals working in the fields of gender equality and anti-corruption.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with members of the International Corruption Research Network (ICRN) and involved representatives from several Eastern European countries.
In 2019, an international seminar was held, bringing together representatives of civil society organisations and experts from five European countries (35 participants).
The project was implemented as part of the Analytical Centres Development Initiative for Ukraine, carried out by the International Renaissance Foundation in partnership with the Open Society Initiative for Europe (OSIFE), with financial support from the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine. The published results of the project represent the authors’ views and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine, the International Renaissance Foundation or the Open Society Initiative for Europe (OSIFE).
