The IIIrd annual conference “Corruption Whistleblowers in Ukraine: Successes and Challenges”

On July 7th, the third annual conference “Corruption Whistleblowers in Ukraine: Successes and Challenges” took place. The event featured three specialized panel discussions and two workshops:

  • State anti-corruption program and whistleblowers.
  • Building respect for whistleblowers.
  • The role of whistleblowers in preventing corruption in reconstruction projects.
  • Roundtable “Reporting Channels for Whistleblowers and the Draft Law on Classified Information Security.”
  • Workshop “Voice of Whistleblowers.”

Speakers and participants at the conference discussed issues related to the institution of whistleblowing in the context of implementing the Anti-Corruption Strategy until 2025 and the State Anti-Corruption Program for 2023-2025, as well as the importance of respecting whistleblowers and whistleblowing in times of change, particularly during war and post-war reconstruction.

The conference was attended by international and national experts in the field of whistleblower protection, judges, lawyers, representatives of civil society organizations, whistleblowers, special authorized persons, employees of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAZK), and compliance officers. Key speakers included:

  • Oleksandr Novikov, the Head of NACP .
  • Yaroslav Lyubchenko, the Deputy Head of NACP .
  • Eka Tkeshelashvili, Head of the USAID project “Supporting Anti-Corruption Champions Institutions”
  • Oleksii Kravchuk, Judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC).
  • Serhii Derkach, Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
  • Andriyi Borovyk, Transparency International Ukraine.
  • Richard Messick, international expert.

The conference “Corruption Whistleblowers in Ukraine: Successes and Challenges” took place for the third time this year. The organizers of the conference were the Anti-Corruption Research and Education Centre at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (ACREC) and NACP.
